When listing products on Temu, you’re generally required to provide the Country/Region of Origin. It refers to the place where the product was wholly produced or manufactured. This guide explains why it's important and how to set the Country of Origin using M2E Temu integration.
Why the Country of Origin matters on marketplaces #
Marketplaces like Temu collect origin data for several key reasons:
- Regulatory compliance. Many countries require products to be labeled with their origin to meet customs and trade regulations.
- Consumer transparency. Buyers often prefer to know where a product comes from. This can influence purchasing decisions and build trust.
- Trade agreements and tariffs. The country of origin affects how tariffs are applied and whether your product qualifies for trade agreement benefits.
- Platform policies. Origin information supports quality checks, product recalls, and prevents counterfeit listings.
Set the Country of Origin for existing Temu listings #
You can assign Country of Origin using Category Attributes in M2E Temu Connect. Follow the steps below:
1. Go to Temu > Configuration > Categories.
2. Click Edit next to the Temu category used by your listed products.
3. Under Product Attributes, find and set the Country of Origin field.
You can select from Temu Recommended values, use a Magento attribute that stores the origin, or enter the country name manually.
Changes will apply to all Temu products assigned to this category.
To make sure that M2E submits the changes to Temu, enable the Attributes option in the Revise Rules of your Synchronization Policy:
Set the Country of Origin for new Temu listings #
When creating a new Temu listing, choose a category and fill in the Country of Origin field under Category Attributes. M2E will include this value when submitting the product to Temu.
Do other marketplaces require Country of Origin? #
Country/Region of Origin isn’t only required on Temu. It’s also commonly requested on other major marketplaces:
- Amazon – Requires country of origin details for most product listings.
- eBay – Country of origin is mandatory for cross-border and Global Shipping Program (GSP) listings.
- Walmart – Collects the country of origin information to support compliance and transparency.
