Missing Phone Number in eBay Germany Orders? “Invalid Request” Explained

1 min read

When processing eBay Germany orders via M2E Pro, you might notice “Invalid Request” instead of the buyer’s phone number. This happens due to platform-level privacy restrictions from ebay.de.

Why is this happening? #

If the buyer’s contact number is replaced with “Invalid Request,” you see a common quirk specific to eBay Germany.

Although the number exists on the buyer’s eBay profile, ebay.de intentionally blocks it in API replies when the buyer is registered on the German marketplace.

This privacy rule is enforced directly by eBay and cannot be bypassed or adjusted by M2E Pro.

How to resolve it #

To ensure the buyer's phone number is included in the order data, follow this fix directly in your eBay account:

To make sure the buyer's phone details appear in your M2E Pro order grid:

  1. Sign in to your My eBay account;
  2. Navigate to Account > Site Preferences;
  3. Open Shipping Preferences;
  4. Enable the setting: Require phone number for shipping.

While this option makes the phone field mandatory during checkout on eBay Germany, it also controls whether the number is shared through the API.

Once enabled, M2E Pro will receive and display the phone number correctly in your order data.
